As the popularity of ambulatory surgery centers increases and more procedures are performed there, it can sometimes be difficult to know which procedure cannot be performed under that setting and need to be done in an outpatient hospital. Current Procedural Technology (CPT) explains what the procedure will be but further research is required to determine whether it is allowed in an ASC or not. Other factors include the presence of comorbidities or the need for additional assistant or co-surgeons and other ancillary providers. 

Several popular procedures can be performed in both settings. We will be exploring the coding and the cost research for these procedures.
