Assistive technology encompasses a wide variety of products and services, from low tech adaptive equipment to high tech custom power wheelchairs operated by eye gaze This webinar will provide a general overview of the various categories of assistive technology and their uses. Information will be shared regarding which certified and/or licensed professional to contact for specific recommendations to utilize on a Life Care Plan.

About The Presenter(s): 
Tori Goldhammer, MS, OTR/L, ATP, CAPS, ECHM, CEAC, CFPS, CLCP has been an Occupational Therapist for over 20 years with experiences in all clinical settings. Through extensive experience working with older adults and individuals with disabilities in the community, Tori has developed expertise in safe and accessible housing and fall risk management. In 2016, Tori launched the DC Safe at Home program, which as of May 2023 has helped over 6000 residents of Washington DC. She was awarded the 2022 Innovation Award from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) for her work creating Safe at Home. Tori has taught locally as an adjunct faculty and nationally as a continuing education instructor. She has also partnered as a clinical researcher with Johns Hopkins on various community-based research projects. In addition to teaching and research, Tori has been interviewed by local and national media and has been invited to present at national conferences. Throughout her career, Tori has focused on advocacy, working with local and federal agencies to provide funding for initiatives to help people remain safely in their homes and in the community. Tori is a licensed Occupational Therapist in multiple states and has specialty certifications in Assistive Technology, Aging in Place/Environmental Modifications, Fall Prevention and Life Care Planning.
