AANLCP® AWARDS AND RECOGNITION STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP®) Awards and Recognition Program is supported by these values:

  • Promoting professional excellence in the practice of nurse life care planning through participation with the association.
  • Striving to promote education, collegiality, collaboration, research, and standards as they relate to the practice of nurse life care planning.
  • Expanding the recognition of nurse life care planning through association members, partners, exhibitors, and others.

The Ambassador Award

The AANLCP Ambassador Award was established in recognition of Denise Nelson for her contributions to AANLCP and its members. Denise served as the AANLCP Operations Manager from 2004 until her retirement in 2015. She advanced the association through support, insight, strategic planning, and most importantly, as the association ambassador. Denise regularly went above the call of duty in promoting the organization, providing support to nurses in need, and contributing to the association goals and mission.

The Ambassador Award recognizes a member who has notably exceeded the traditional membership role in increasing awareness of the association and advocating for the role of the nurse life care planner. The award recipient contributes to nurse life care planning by encouraging the leadership of others and demonstrates the remarkable ability to foster ambassadorship to fellow nurses, the industry, partners, and the community.

Eligibility

  • Nominees must hold an active membership in AANLCP for at least two years.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrates consistent congenial relationships and builds beneficial connections with other nurses, both within and outside AANLCP.
  • Promotes the role of nurse life care planning.
  • Encourages the development of leadership in self and others.
  • Respects and supports association members and partners.
  • Supports the association regularly and consistently.
  • Promotes association-sanctioned education events.
  • Seeks to determine how the association can most effectively meet the needs of others.
  • Supports the association through active participation as a committee member.

Review of Nominations

  • Nominations will be reviewed at a meeting of the Executive Board.
  • Award winner is determined by ballot majority vote of the Board.

Award Presentation

  • The Ambassador Award will be announced at the AANLCP Annual Educational Conference.
  • The recipient will receive recognition at the AANLCP Annual Educational Conference.

Terms

  • The annual nomination deadline is February 1st.
  • Nominations are to be submitted online through the AANLCP website using the Awards and Recognition
  • The Ambassador Award need not be awarded each year.

AANLCP Education Annual Scholarship

The Educational Scholarship provides an opportunity for an active member of the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP®) to pursue further education in nurse life care planning by attendance at AANLCP’s Annual Educational Conference or through the association’s webinars.

Eligibility

  • Active member holding membership in AANLCP for greater than a year.
  • A registered nurse or an individual in the health or human services profession actively providing life care planning services, including individuals designated as holding a license or professional degree or certification in life care planning.

Application and selection Process

  • Information regarding the Educational Scholarship application will be published in the fourth quarter issue of the AANLCP Journal, in the AANLCP Newsletter and on ANLCP’s website.
  • The applicant must agree to submit a short article or letter to the Executive Board regarding the benefit of the educational experience following attendance at following annual conference. This short article or letter will become the property of AANLCP and may be published.
  • Applicants must submit the AANLCP Educational Scholarship application form to AANLCP’s office by February 1st of the year of submission. AANLCP’s Operations Manager will remove all identifying applicant information prior to submitting applications to the Executive Board for
  • The Executive Board will incorporate the scholarship application review into the February meeting agenda to select the scholarship recipient for that
  • The scholarship recipient will be notified by the President.

Award Presentation

  • The announcement of the scholarship recipient will occur at the AANLCP Annual Educational Conference by the President of the association.

Terms

  • Educational Scholarship funding must be utilized for the AANLCP annual educational conference during the calendar year of the award.
  • The Educational Scholarship may not be awarded annually.
  • The Executive Board determines the candidate’s criteria through the application process.
  • Membership on the Executive Board does not preclude application; however, the member must recuse him/herself from any discussion regarding the award during that period.
  • Award recipients may apply again in three years.
  • The Executive Board, at the annual Strategic Planning Meeting, will determine the amount of the award.

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes an active member who demonstrates outstanding support through significant contributions to the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners (AANLCP®). The Executive Board is responsible for the coordination of the nomination, application, selection, and the notification process related to the awarding of the Distinguished Service Award.

Eligibility

  • Must be an active member of AANLCP for at least two years.
  • Promotes the role of nurse life care planning.
  • Supports the association regularly and consistently.

Selection Criteria

Candidates must show evidence of outstanding contributions to the field of nurse life care planning including, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Conducting research or developing projects that have contributed to improvement in the field of nurse life care planning.
  • Authoring books, articles or other communication that have significant
  • Providing leadership through active participation in AANLCP and other organizations at the local, state, national or international level.
  • Representing AANLCP and the field of practice in other professional organizations.
  • Promoting professional development activities to expand the expertise and career direction of members.
  • Contributing to the profession and the mission of AANLCP.

Review of Nominations

  • The Executive Board, with participation from the Management Company and the prior year awardee, may nominate someone meeting the established criteria.
  • Nominations are submitted online using the Awards and Recognition Form and must be submitted by February 1ST. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Award Presentation

  • The Distinguished Service Award will be announced at the AANLCP Annual Educational Conference.
  • The recipient will receive recognition at the AANLCP Annual Educational Conference.

Terms

  • The Distinguished Service Award need not be awarded each year.
